About Henry

Taff Pest Control is run by Henry: one person doing the job properly, with over nine years in pest control behind him. Henry learned the trade in the family pest control business before setting up on his own. Many of the customers we look after today first knew him through the family firm, and when he went independent, he simply carried on doing their work under his own name. Same person at the door, same standards; we’d like to think that continuity says more than any advert could.

Taff Pest Control is the new name for work Henry’s been doing across Cardiff for years. Same person, same standards; just his own business now, based on the west side of Cardiff, out towards St Fagans.

How we work

We follow an Integrated Pest Management approach, the professional standard. That means we look at proofing, exclusion and the cause of the problem first, and reach for rodenticides or chemical treatments when they’re genuinely needed, not as a default. Where treatment is necessary, we’ll tell you exactly what we’re using and any precautions for children and pets. If you’re curious how that works in practice, we’ve written it up: the three methods of pest control, and how we actually use them.

It’s a slower way to describe the job than “we’ll blitz it”, but it’s the difference between a problem that comes back and one that doesn’t. If mice are getting in under a poorly sealed door, no amount of bait fixes the door.

The job that sums it up: a beautifully kept lawn out in the Vale with three different sonic mole repellers humming away in it, and a fresh molehill neatly between each one. The gadgets went back in the shed, the traps went into the runs, and two visits later the lawn was just a lawn again. We don’t sell gadgets; we read the ground.

Why the van isn’t signwritten

Plenty of our customers would rather the street didn’t know they’d had pest control in. Bed bugs and cockroaches carry a stigma they don’t deserve: they turn up in spotless homes and good neighbourhoods all the time. That’s why we’ve never signwritten the van.

We arrive in an unmarked vehicle with no branded uniform or signage, so as far as anyone can tell, you’ve simply had a visitor. It’s how we operate as standard, not an upgrade you have to ask for.

We’ll always confirm who we are when we arrive, and you’re welcome to see our certifications and insurance documents on request.

Qualifications and cover

Henry holds the Level 2 Award in Pest Management (RSPH), the recognised industry qualification for professional pest technicians, and is certified in the Safe Use of Rodenticides, trained to reach for them only when proofing and exclusion aren’t enough.

We’re PROMPT-registered: that’s the industry’s continuing professional development register, which means our training doesn’t stop at qualification. And we’re fully insured, with £5m public liability. Happy to show any of it on request.

One more thing: the guides on this site (the council’s prices, who pays in a rental, the signs of rats) are written by Henry, not an agency. If we’d say it on your doorstep, we’ll put it in writing here.

A quick word on results

We don’t offer written guarantees, and we’d be wary of anyone in this trade who does. Pest control is working with nature. What we can promise is honest advice, thorough work, and clear communication about what to expect at every stage. If we don’t think we can help, we’ll tell you, and we’ll usually know who can.
