What we deal with

Pest control services across Cardiff and the Vale

Calls often start with something heard or spotted, not a pest name. Scratching in the ceiling at night. Droppings under the sink. A nest in the soffits. Bites nobody can explain. You don’t need to know what it is before you get in touch.

Rodents

Rats, mice and squirrels. We trace how they’re getting in, close what can realistically be closed, and deal with the ones already inside.

Quoted per job

Insects

Bed bugs, cockroaches, fleas, ants, moths and carpet beetles. Targeted treatment at the source, not just the strays you can see.

Wasps & hornets

Non-toxic soap for nests out in the open. Inside the building, insecticide at the nest or its entrance, and a return visit only where the product calls for one.

Wasp nest removal →

Birds

Pigeon and seagull proofing with spikes, netting and wire, fitted to suit the building. Wherever the law comes into it, we’ll explain the licensing first.

Solar panels

Pigeons nesting in the warm gap beneath the array. Cleared, cleaned and meshed off, clipped to the panels, never drilled, warranty intact.

If it’s not on the cards above, it’s almost certainly still work we do. A typical week takes in rats, mice and squirrels in the loft; wasp and hornet nests; bed bugs, cockroaches, fleas, ants, clothes moths, carpet beetles and cluster flies; pigeon and gull proofing (including under solar panels); and the wildlife calls, from moles in the lawn to foxes under the shed. Not sure what you’re dealing with? Most jobs start with a photo on WhatsApp.

In season right now: October is cluster fly time in Cardiff. They gather at sunny windows looking for a loft to spend the winter in, and the loft is where we treat them. It’s also when mice start finding their way indoors as the nights draw in. Wasp nests are winding down: a nest that’s gone quiet can usually be left to die off over the winter, and we’re happy to tell you on the phone whether yours needs anything at all. As for rats, they don’t keep to a season: rat work comes in all year round, and the earlier we hear about a problem, the smaller the job.

Why Taff

One person, start to finish

Taff Pest Control is run by Henry, who learned pest control in the family business. Over nine years on, many of the customers who knew him then still call him now. When he went out on his own, he simply carried on doing their work under his own name: same person at the door, new name on the paperwork.

When you call, you reach the person who does the work. Not a call centre, not a different technician each visit: the same person quotes the job, turns up, does the work and answers the phone afterwards.

We work to Integrated Pest Management, the professional standard. That means starting with the cause: how they’re getting in, what’s drawing them, and how to shut that off. Treatment has its place, but it’s the last tool we reach for, not the first.

How it works

Three steps, no fuss

1

Get in touch

Call us, or WhatsApp a photo of the problem. A shot of the droppings, the insect or the damage is often all we need. We’ll tell you plainly what you’re dealing with, and what we’d do about it.

2

A clear quote

You’ll get a price for the first visit and a fair picture of any likely follow-ups. Some jobs can’t be fully sized until we’ve seen them, and we’ll say so. Confirmed by text before we attend; no callout charge for a quote.

3

We attend

We aim to be with you within two working days, often sooner. You’ll get a realistic answer on the phone about when that will be, and we’ll keep you posted at every stage of the job.

Where we work

Pest control in Cardiff, the Vale and a little beyond

We’re Cardiff-based and work right across the city: from the Victorian terraces of Pontcanna, Canton and Roath to family homes in Radyr, Whitchurch, Llandaff, Penylan and Cyncoed, and out through Lisvane, Rhiwbina, Thornhill, St Fagans and Creigiau.

Different streets bring different work. Under the older terraces, rats very often get in through an old or damaged drain. Gardens backing woodland out in Lisvane and Thornhill supply most of the squirrel, fox and mole calls, and newer estates see wasp nests take up residence in the soffits. Reading the street is part of reading the job.

Beyond the city, we cover Penarth, Barry, Dinas Powys, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and the villages of the Vale of Glamorgan, along with Caerphilly, Pontypridd, Llantrisant, Newport and Bridgend.

Further out than that, we still want to hear from you.

There’s more on where we work, town by town, on the areas page.

Worked with Henry before?

Taff Pest Control is the new name for work Henry has been doing across Cardiff for years, so reviews under the new name are only just starting to build. If we’ve worked for you before, under this name or the old one, a quick review on Google helps the next household find us.

Pest guides

Answers first, callout second

Some problems need a visit this week; some just need a clear answer. The guides are written for the second kind, and for working out which kind yours is.

Quick answers

How much does pest control cost in Cardiff?

It depends on the pest, the scale of the problem and the number of visits it takes, which is why we quote each job rather than publish a price list. Call us or WhatsApp a photo and you’ll have a clear figure for the first visit and any likely follow-ups, confirmed by text. Quotes by phone or WhatsApp are free, so you’ll know the price before we set off.

How quickly can you come out?

We aim to attend within two working days, often sooner, and we’ll tell you honestly on the phone when we can get to you. If we miss your call, we’re usually on a job, and we’ll text you back shortly.

What if I don’t know what the pest is?

That’s common. Plenty of first calls start with “I’m not sure what it is”. WhatsApp us a photo of the insect, the droppings or the damage, and we’ll identify it and tell you what it needs. If it’s a noise rather than a sighting, even a short voice note or video from where you hear it helps. And if it’s something we don’t handle, such as bees, we’ll tell you who does.

Is treatment safe with children and pets?

It’s one of the first things we plan around. Proofing and finding the cause come first, and treatment only when it’s needed. When we do treat, we’ll tell you exactly what we’re using and any precautions for children and pets. The rodent control page explains how bait is kept out of reach.

Do you guarantee your work?

We don’t offer written guarantees, and we’d be wary of anyone in this trade who does. Pest control is working with nature. What we can promise is straight advice, thorough work, and clear communication about what to expect at every stage.

Which areas do you cover?

Cardiff and the Vale (Penarth, Barry, Dinas Powys, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and the Vale villages), plus Caerphilly, Pontypridd, Llantrisant, Newport and Bridgend. The areas page has the town-by-town picture, and if you’re further out, we’re always glad to take the call.

Do you cover businesses as well as homes?

Yes: letting agents, HMO landlords, kitchens and small premises across Cardiff. One point of contact, the same person at every visit, and a direct mobile line. The details are on the commercial page.
